Dormer loft conversions

Dormer loft conversions are an extension onto an existing roof. This vertically projects from a sloping roof creating a box shape giving your property additional floor space. This type of loft extension is incredibly popular as it doesn’t require any dramatic changes while adding the maximum amount of additional internal space.

Another benefit of the dormer loft conversion is the extra head space in an otherwise cramped loft as well as letting in extra light and ventilation.

Velux conversion

With this type of conversion, you don’t need to alter or expand upon the existing loft space. It works particularly well for homes where there are constraints on planning or to homes where the loft already has sufficient space and head room. L-shaped dormer loft conversion

The L-shaped dormer loft conversion is another popular type of conversion. This type of conversion is a fantastic way to extend mid-terrace properties to maximise space. Usually you would be able to add 2 more bedrooms with an en-suite to your property.

The L-shape is constructed by two dormer builds joined together. Typically one dormer would be built on the back outrigger roof while the other is built on the main roof, this creates the L-shape.

Hip To Gable

Hip-to-gable dormer loft conversions are typically used for properties that have a sloped side roof. A hip-to-gable conversion extends the existing ridge by straightening out the sloping ceiling. This gives you a considerable amount of headroom and floor space. This type of loft extension can also be used to extend your existing loft conversion.

Mansard

Mansard loft conversions are usually built on the back of the house and typically require planning permission. This particular type of conversion has a flat roof and a sloping back wall that slopes at a 72-degree angle. Mansard loft extensions offer ample extra space by adding another storey to the home. A vast amount of space is created with a mansard conversion allowing you to have an open-plan room or even divide the space to create an extra room such as a bathroom, home office or master bedroom.
